It’s funny how fast the city I live in is changing… Just, as I thought I was grasping the gist of the Tunnel district, I found myself face to face with a new challenge. The Kuledibi Mahallesi has become an extensive neighborhood with so much to do whether you are a local or tourist.

Day 2: Sunday

Waking up and straightening your legs while looking at the Bosphorus from afar… That is how it is to wake up in the penthouse. Since, the hotel provides for you everything from the cattle to the microwave, one can easily cook breakfast or prepare a morning tea or coffee inside the comfort zone of his or her room. Another possibility is to enjoy the various number of local offers that Beyoglu provides.

Istanbul Diaries: Beyoglu Neighbourhood

Day 1: Saturday

I played the “tourist” in my own city the other day. Needless to say, Istanbul is a huge city and its various parts are all conceived differently by its inhabitants. Apart from their conception, the lifestyles that various parts have to offer to their inhabitants are also very diverse. For me for instance, living in the European side of the city, I do not cross the bridge as often as someone who lives on this side and works on the other. Similarly, I also do not go to the cosmopolitan and the lively center, called Beyoglu, other than on the weekends for friendly reunions and get-togethers; while its inhabitants live what they call their “neighborhood” every single day from morning till night like one huge and big family.
